Cowboys of the Silver Screen stamp issued

"Cowboys of the Silver Screen" Postage Stamp Unveiling and Florence Postmarked Stamp on Commemorative Envelope Sale   April 17th

Attention fans of cowboy movies and stamp collectors alike! The United States Postal service is issuing a block of stamps commemorating cowboy stars of the silver screen. On April 17, the United States Postal Service will release the "Cowboys of the Silver Screen" commemorative stamp set featuring Gene Autry, William S. Hart, Tom Mix, and Roy Rogers.  An unveiling of the stamps will take place at the Pinal County Historical Museum in Florence AZ on April 17 at 1 p.m.

The museum is located at 715 S. Main Street in historic Florence which was recently picked as the #2 True Old West town in the United States by True West Magazine. Tom Mix and Gene Autry both had deep connection to the town of Florence. Displays on the two stars will be exhibited. Envelopes bearing the image of Gene Autry leading the Florence Junior Parada parade down Main Street, stamped and postmarked Florence AZ, will be for sale. For more information call 520-868-4382.
