Sentencing of Michael Willie Enos to 10 years in prison

Michael Willie Enos, 24, was sentenced to 10 years in prison, on
Friday, Jan. 10, 2010. He was found guilty of Possession of a Narcotic
Drug by a Pinal County Jury on Nov. 5, 2010.

Enos will have to serve 100 percent of his sentence.

Enos was also found guilty of two counts of Possession of Marijuana. He
was sentenced to three years and nine months in prison for each of those
two counts.

"The diligent work of our prosecutors in Pinal County have made an
example of those who intend on using illegal narcotics here," said
James P. Walsh, Pinal County Attorney. "I am very proud of law
enforcement and our Drug Unit, whose efforts protect the families of
Pinal County."


All prison sentences will run concurrently. Enos will have to pay about
$4,000 in fines and surcharges.

Pinal County Juvenile Court Advisory Board Hosting Essay Contest

Pinal County Juvenile Court Community Advisory Board is hosting their annual Character Counts Essay Contest for schools in Pinal County.  Winners will be chosen based on their essays about one of the six pillars of character:  responsibility, citizenship, respect, fairness, caring and trustworthiness.

Last year the essay contest brought in over 1,400 entries with the top 16 students being recognized at the Pinal County Courthouse in Florence with the Honorable Stephen McCarville as the guest speaker. 

Information has been sent to all public, private and charter schools but is open to all Pinal County students in grades K-12, including those home schooled.   Deadline for submission is Friday, February 19, 2010.

CGRMC Hosts Breast Feeding Class

Casa Grande, Arizona – January 15, 2010 – Expectant mothers are invited to the next session of Casa Grande Regional Medical Center's (CGRMC) Breastfeeding Basics Class on Saturday, January 30 from 9 a.m.-noon.  This free class will include important breastfeeding information, as well as food and fun.  To register, call CGRMC's Childbirth Education hotline at (520) 381-6543 or Diane Medina, Breastfeeding Coordinator with the Pinal County WIC program, at (520) 866-7292.

CGRMC’s First Baby of 2010

Casa Grande, Arizona – Jan. 1, 2010 – Casa Grande Regional Medical Center (CGRMC) announces the birth of Suncerai Luciana Bella Badger, the first baby girl born at the hospital in 2010. Suncerai was born to Angelica Sanchez of Casa Grande and Choya Badger at 2:28 a.m. on January 1, 2010. The New Year's baby weighed 8 pounds 13 ounces and was 21 and ½ inches in length at birth.  Suncerai's family also includes sister Valentina, age five, and brother Vicente, age two and a half.

The baby received a hand knit blanket from the hospital's Volunteer Department.  The hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop presented the baby with a gift basket filled with an assortment of new baby items including a rattle, a book, a stuffed bear, and lotions for mom. CGRMC gifted the family with a donation of two cases each of Pampers diapers in newborn, medium and large sizes.
